Rail card competition - endangered numbats

This is my entry to the Nine to Five competition. The competition was to decorate an expired rail card creatively. The best entry wins free rail for a year - seriously doubt my chances ... but I enjoyed making this little card.

Rabbit with floral background

Creative title huh? Not much to say on this one. A rabbit with floral background pretty much sums it up. I saw Sex in the City 2 today ... I can't help thinking this bunny just isn't that glamourous (no offence rabbit my dear).
As an aside I would luurvvee to have Carrie and Big's apartment - no doubt the bunny does as well!

Whiskers and Podge take Tea

Sunday afternoon and it's freeeeezing cold (!!!) in our little flat. It's been an artic winter in Sydney. Today I feel like a fat penguin with my numerous layers. I especially like my v.chic hiking socks that are keeping frost bite at bay. Just. I can see why bears hibernate. Less hiking socks to wash. Anyway, enough about the weather, here's a little watercolour I did during the week. It's warm where ever they are.

Egor the Owl

In a rare fit of bravery I’ve started to organise a bit of my artwork into finished and non-finished piles. Big mistake. The non finished piles (that's right I used a plural!) is squatting hapzardly on my desk and are scaring me as I type.

Anyway I found this little baby in a drawer half finished. It dates to the time when owls were more popular than sliced bread. I’ve named the owl Egor. He looks like an Egor with those crazy ears. I plan to add colour to him at some stage.

Egor likes worms, walks on the beach and is looking for someone special to share his tree with.
My first entry ...

This is my first illustration of the year.
I'm committing to drawing five illustrations a week for 52 weeks. That's 260 pictures in total. The aim for this year is to have enough decent pictures for a children's illustration portfolio. Eck - am I crazy? Probably.
I wanted to start with a fantastic picture, something to encapsulate how amazing this year is going to be. Naturally I couldn't think of anything to draw.
All I could think was I can't think of anything to draw. How am I ever going to create that many pictures? 260!
Then the fear that I never finish anything kicks in. I've got drawers of half started illustrations to prove it. I'm the best starter of projects, I start things with zeal but it never lasts.
So in dedication of all my fears (all 260 of them!) I've drawn a chicken for my first picture
.
